The Nintendo Switch is one of the most popular consoles of all time, and Nintendo didn’t predict its unprecedented success.

As soon as the Switch was released, it flew off the shelves, meaning not everyone who wanted it could buy it.

At the time of production, there was a global chip shortage, meaning consoles like the Switch and PS5 were in short supply at launch.

Another reason for the shortage was scalpers, people who buy popular items and sell them for inflated prices.

The ability to ‘scalp’ an item depends on how rare it is, so scalpers often buy large numbers of sets to create scarcity.

Nintendo is hoping to solve this problem and make it much easier for people to buy their consoles at launch for the expected price.

The company’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, revealed the shareholders that Nintendo has a plan to combat scalpers.

Furukawa states that since there is no current or expected chip shortage, the company is planning to produce enough Switch 2 consoles to meet customer demand.

By flooding the market with more than enough consoles for everyone who wants one, there should be no way for scalpers to create console shortages.

We know very little about the Switch’s next successor. In fact, the name Switch 2 is a fan-created nickname.

Furukawa revealed the development of the Switch 2 in a tweet, suggesting its launch is planned for 2025.

Everything else we know about the console is purely rumors and speculation that has not been confirmed.
