One of the biggest live service games of 2023 will no longer be updated just a year after launch

LIVE-SERVICE games are some of the most popular games, with titles like Fortnite taking over the industry.

Although some games have been hugely successful, many others end up abandoned after a short period of time.

We’ve already seen several live service games launch unsuccessfully this year.

In February alone, Skull and Bones, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Nightingale, and Foamstars were unsuccessfully released, with Helldivers 2 being the only popular live service release.

This has been the trend for some time now, with gamers focusing on their favorites rather than focusing on new releases.

When combined with market oversaturation, the trend has been for more live service games to fail than to succeed.

The latest game seemingly added to the long list of failures is Capcom’s Exoprimal, released in July last year.

Similar to games like Earth Defense Force, this is a team shooter where up to five people in mechs can take on oncoming waves of dinosaurs.

There is no news of server shutdowns, but no new content will be added to the game.

July 11th marks the end of Season 4 of Exoprimal and, after this date, the game will restart with Season 1.

From now on, Exoprimal will recycle content, with seasons 1 to 4 available every year for three months.

Looking at the player count, it seems obvious why Capcom would stop putting resources into the game.

On Steam, while there was an all-time peak of almost 5k, the daily peak is now less than 100 concurrent players.
