FORTNITE developer Epic Games has announced that the popular Battle Royale will soon be available on Apple products.

Epic Games and Apple have entered into a legal battle over payment methods, as the iPhone maker typically takes a percentage of profits from all in-game purchases.

Because Epic Games wanted price parity for in-game purchases across all platforms, it did not agree to Apple raising the price on iOS platforms.

Apple removed Fortnite from iOS, including iPhones and iPads, in 2021, but the game may be back.

On July 5, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney and the official Epic Games Twitter account tweeted about Fortnite’s return to iOS.

Epic Games claims that Apple initially rejected the company’s application for Fortnite, claiming that the design of the buy buttons was too similar to Apple’s own buy buttons.

The official tweet reads: “Apple rejected our request for Epic Games Store notarization twice, claiming that the design and position of Epic’s ‘Install’ button is too similar to Apple’s ‘Get’ button.

“And that our ‘In-App Purchases’ label is very similar to the App Store ‘In-App Purchases’ label.”

However, on the same day Epic claims that Apple reversed the decision, giving temporary approval.

Apple has not commented on the situation and we only have Epic sources to guide us.

Sweeney’s tweet about the situation reads: “Apple’s DMA saga has taken a turn for the absurd.

“Apple is now telling reporters that this approval is temporary and is requiring us to change the buttons in the next version – which would make our store less standardized and more difficult to use.

“We will fight this.”

These changes only apply in the EU and Fortnite will require approval in all regions before being added to the store for these players.
