There have been a number of rumors about the upcoming PS5 Pro announcement, and the latest news has sealed the deal.
Previously, a YouTuber claimed to have leaked documents that proved a PS5 Pro was in development.
A few weeks later, Digital Foundry said it obtained confirmation of the console’s existence through Sony’s devnet portal.
This is a portal that Sony uses to share new information with developers, suggesting that the PlayStation 5 Pro may already be in the hands of some developers.
Digital Foundry claims that YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead findings were mostly correct, but it’s Sony’s own action that people believe best shows the console’s existence.
Sony violated the copyright of the YouTube video, which Moore’s Law is Dead claims contains confidential company documents.
The copyright notice means that the video is no longer available because it includes something that Sony owns the rights to.
Having watched the entire video before it was taken down, it seems like the only reason Sony could have taken down the video is if the documents were real.
Despite this, the PS5 Pro has not been officially announced, although it appears that Sony will be preparing for an announcement following this move.
It’s likely that Digital Foundry’s findings forced Sony into this situation, although it could be that the report allowed Sony to find the video.
The video stated that Sony intended to put the PS5 Pro on sale for this year’s holiday season, which would likely make the announcement mid-year.
However, now that the video has been removed by Sony it is likely that the announcement will be delayed.
