ONE of the biggest mysteries in gaming right now involves a mysterious Nintendo trailer.
The 15-second trailer was incredibly short and showed fans that people still can’t help but investigate the mystery.
Nintendo’s trailer titled simply Emio has a brief description that simply says #WhoIsEmio?
The trailer shows a video of a man with a paper bag over his head, with scary scratching effects throughout the film.
On the paper bag is a simple drawing of a wide smile that changes to a scary smile for an instant.
The end of the video features emiotoko in Japanese, probably where the name Emio comes from.
In English it means “smiling man”, but these are all the clues the trailer gives us.
Fans have speculated that the game is being developed by Bloober Team, best known for Layers of Fear, or Koei Tecmo, which previously developed the Fatal Frame series for Nintendo.
However, just days after the trailer was released, Nintendo fans discovered yet another clue as to who or what Emio is.
The upcoming horror game has been reviewed in Australia, which means we now have some hints about what will be in the game.
It is rated Mature 15 and Restricted 13 due to the game’s themes and scenes.
Reviews show that the game will contain “strong themes, violence and references to suicide” and “themes of violence, cruelty, domestic violence and suicide”.
There was also a warning at the beginning of the trailer that said: “This video contains scenes that some viewers may find disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised.
It seems that whatever Emio is, it will be a much scarier game than Nintendo Switch players have come to expect from the company.
