I’m the number one Pokémon fan, but this creature collector is my favorite in the game

POKÉMON really scratches the itch to collect and capture cute creatures, but every battle can be a little stressful.

You always need to level up your Pokémon, collect resources, and manage their movements if you want to do well.

However, there’s an upcoming game that’s all about finding, enchanting, and documenting creatures, without the stress of everything else.

Flock is the story of an Amazon who helps her aunt document all the different creatures in her region.

There are also sheep you can find and collect, which will graze in the meadows and discover items hidden in the tall grass.

These could be trinkets to increase the size of your herd, knitting patterns for clothing, or whistles to enchant certain species.

Once you have the whistle and have identified a creature, you can enchant it into joining your herd.

The creatures in your flock will not only help you delight others, but they will also point out other creatures of the same species hidden in the world.

You don’t need to document or enchant all the different creatures if you want to finish the main story, but it’s a fun challenge if you decide to do so.

Many creatures require you to solve some environmental puzzles, such as gathering creatures in one place or following a creature back to its home.

This makes exploration feel more real and gives more incentive to explore the world, which is Flock’s greatest strength.

The world is beautiful, helped by its gorgeous art style and fun creature designs.

There are some bugs that made my experience difficult. Some objects have no collision and creature hitboxes may look wrong.

Some creatures are also very rare, and I searched for literal hours in places I’ve seen a creature before to enchant it.

Despite these issues, I still felt compelled to fill my journal with all the creatures and enjoyed simply gliding through the open world.

Flock is a relaxing game, whether you play alone or with friends online, that I keep coming back to.
