PLAYSTATION had a large lineup of exclusives for the PS5 in the first half of this year, with titles such as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade.
PS5 owners can finally play one of the biggest exclusive titles of 2024 completely free and decide for themselves whether it’s worth buying.
Rise of the Ronin was released in March 2024 and it took a few months for the game to finally get a free demo on the PlayStation Store.
Developed by Team Ninja exclusively for PS5, the open-world action RPG set in mid-19th century Japan.
In the game, you play as a ronin, a masterless samurai, participating in the events that led to the Boshin War, which marked the end of the samurai era around 1868.
Featuring a mix of open-world exploration and challenging combat, the game has been compared to the Assassin’s Creed series, but with strong Soulslike elements.
With a very decent score of 76/100 on review aggregator Metacritic, Rise of the Ronin is definitely worth a try, especially now that a demo is available.
Upon release, the game was criticized by players for performance issues, so the free demo is the perfect opportunity for everyone to try the game and make up their own mind.
The demo is free to download for all PS5 players and does not require a PS Plus subscription.
Unlike the PS Plus trials, the Rise of the Ronin demo is not time-limited, but will end after one of the first boss fights.
Players who try the free demo will be able to transfer their progress to the full game if they decide to purchase it.
To download the Rise of Ronin demo on PS5, open the PS Store on the console, search for the game and then look for the Free Demo option under Editions.
The demo is not part of a limited time offer, so it should remain in store for the foreseeable future.
