Spotify may soon bring short video clips to more areas of the app. A test detected by Musically shows clips that appear on playlist pages, letting you swipe through a vertical feed with videos less than 30 seconds long.
Spotify introduced clips for the first time last year as a way for artists to communicate with fans and promote their music, but the platform only displayed clips on artist profiles, album pages, and album countdown pages. However, this appears to be changing as Musically I found clips popping up at the top of Spotify’s “Pop Drive” playlist, where you can scroll through short videos from artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Benson Boone.
As pointed out by MusicallySpotify CEO Daniel Ek suggested expanding music videos during an earnings call last monthsaying, “You’re going to see music videos in a bigger way.” On the edge contacted Spotify with a request for more information about the test, but did not receive an immediate response.
