from Microsoft latest Windows Insider blog posts say that when it comes to testing new Copilot features on Windows 11, “we decided to pause implementations of these experiences to further refine them based on user feedback.” For people who already have the feature, “Copilot on Windows will continue to work as expected as we continue to develop new ideas with Windows Insiders.”

We expect to see new Surface laptops powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite processors that run Windows on Arm and compete with Apple’s M3-powered MacBook Air. Meanwhile, new Windows features are expected to include an AI Explorer app that resembles Windows 10’s old Timeline feature, which remembered what you were doing and allowed users to select tasks across different devices and replicate the idea of a “Copilot for each person.”

Copilot features recently tested by Microsoft in preview include one where the Copilot taskbar icon animates to show when the AI assistant can help. You can then hover your mouse icon over it to see its options, such as getting an AI-generated text summary.

Another allowed Copilot on Windows to move out of the sidebar and into a regular application window, which users could resize and move. This feature has started to be implemented for the Canary channel in March.

New construction coming out for both Developer It is Beta Channels includes a fix for unexpected automatic launch of Copilot after a reboot. There is also a new right-click menu shortcut for tabs in File Explorer, allowing users to duplicate the current tab. But for those who follow the Task Manager closely, the most important observation of all is that Microsoft has updated drives to correctly reflect memory speedgoing from the MHz of old to a DDR-ready MT/s count.
