LinkedIn Expands Its AI Job Search Features for Premium Subscribers

LinkedIn is launching new AI-powered features to help users find jobs, customize their resumes, and even get advice from AI chatbots. But these new features come at a cost, as they will be available to Premium subscribers starting in English around the world.

One tool lets you search for jobs on LinkedIn by typing a natural language prompt. In a blog post, Tomer Cohen, chief product officer at LinkedIn, gives the example of “find a remote marketing job in Detroit that pays at least $110,000.” If the results are good, I consider this to be a useful way to look for potential jobs.

LinkedIn can also review your resume and provide personalized suggestions to improve it for a specific role. You will be able to submit a resume, get feedback and “make edits interactively with AI”, LinkedIn’s Rohan Rajiv says in a blog post. There is also a tool to help you create a cover letter “from scratch” with the help of AI.

These features are in addition to other premium-only AI-powered features that LinkedIn has begun testing end of last yearwhich included the ability to summarize posts from your LinkedIn feed.

LinkedIn isn’t just using AI to help you find a job. It’s also starting to test AI personas from a handful of experts who you can talk to to learn more about business topics. (They look like LinkedIn’s version of Meta’s celebrity-based chatbots.) “The responses you’ll receive are trained by experts and represent a mix of insights tailored to each learner’s unique needs,” says Cohen. The list of instructors includes Alicia Reece, Anil Gupta, Dr Gemma Leigh Roberts and Lisa Gates.

The company also promises to improve the platform’s search more broadly with generative AI, although it hasn’t shared many details. “With our new search capabilities, every search interaction becomes smarter, whether you’re searching for someone, exploring jobs, doing outreach, or seeking knowledge and answers,” says Cohen. “AI is poised to revolutionize our search capabilities, allowing you to explore the depth and breadth of any topic directly through LinkedIn search.” Cohen promises that search improvements will be rolled out “in the coming weeks.”
