A widespread Xbox outage is preventing gamers from connecting to Xbox Live and playing online games, downloading games or using other services, with many seeing the message “Error 0x87DD0033”. In a post around 3pm ETXbox says it is “aware that some users have been disconnected from Xbox Live” and that the company is “investigating.”
Bethesda, which is now owned by Microsoft, published a similar messagesaying that Xbox Live is “currently experiencing a service outage” and to stay tuned for Xbox news status page. The page says that Xbox account and profile services are experiencing a “major outage.”
“You may not be able to sign in to your Xbox profile, you may be logged out while signed in, or you may experience other related issues,” the update says. “Features that require login, such as most games, apps and social activities, will not be available.”
The issues with Xbox Live appeared to have started around 2pm ET, with Downdetector Reports starting to rise at that time. There is still no indication of when Xbox will be able to restore the service. At approximately 4:10 p.m. ET, Xbox said its investigation is “taking longer than expected.” On the edge contacted Microsoft with a request for more information, but did not receive an immediate response.
