MILLIONS of Android owners have been urged to update their devices to fix a bug that has caused mobile network issues.
Google released a second update in April specifically for six Pixel models that were affected by the bug.
The tech giant emailed some customers about the update, informing them that it includes “network stability and performance improvements,” according to 9to5Google.
The bug caused some Pixel owners to miss some calls and texts.
Instead of dialing, calls would go straight to voicemail instead of ringing.
Although some text messages were apparently lost in the ether.
Affected Pixel devices include:
- Pixel 7
- Pixel 7 Pro
- Pixel 7a
- Pixel bending
- Pixel 8
- Pixel 8 Pro
Pixel owners who are experiencing the bug should update their devices as soon as the software patch becomes available.
According to Google, the “update will be rolled out globally in affected regions and operators in the coming weeks.”

Affected users who tried to resolve the issue themselves say it only returned days later.
Although there is hope that Google’s patch will be the final and lasting solution.
“I still don’t show up (in Germany), but I sincerely hope this solves this problem,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter).
“Google support was very responsive and tried to help, and after a network reset it worked fine for a few days, but the problem has now returned.”
Another responded, saying: “Good to see #Google solving these problems quickly.”
