GOOGLE is planning a long-awaited button that will allow users to ‘clear’ an annoying texting feature.
The feature is the newly introduced Google Messages screen effects, which rain down on the screen when triggered by certain phrases, like “I love you.”
Although the feature was positively received when it launched, some users quickly grew tired of it – and are looking for a way to disable it.
Screen effects bring your messages to life, animating the words.
Unfortunately, Google didn’t give users a button to turn it off.
However, a report from Android Police says that the company has active plans to bring this much-requested button to life.
Code for a new toggle has been spotted in the latest version of the Google Messages app, but the feature is not yet available.
“Thank God”, a user he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Other added: “Great move by Google. Sometimes you just want a clean messaging experience.”
Message update
Google revealed screen effects along with a suite of new messaging features late last year.
