IPHONE owners are about to get a new AI-powered photo editing tool that can erase people and objects from photos as if they never existed.
Apple Intelligence – the iPhone maker’s new AI system – is bringing a host of new features to iPhones and iPads in iOS 18.
This will make Siri more like ChatGPT – much to Elon Musk’s chagrin – and create custom emojis, with a tool called Genmoji.
The new AI push will also pave the way for a new photo tool called Clean Up – which is Apple’s version of Google’s Magic Eraser.
After iPhone owners take a photo, they can open the Photos app, click on the photo, and circle or highlight the person or object they want to remove.
The Clean Up tool can remove photo bombers and elements that make the image less aesthetically pleasing.
The AI will then come in and make that edit unnoticeable – although sometimes those edits can seem a little obvious.
TIM COOK’S OFFICIAL WORD

Here’s what Apple CEO Tim Cook said about Apple Intelligence…
“We’re excited to introduce a new chapter in Apple innovation,” explained Tim.
“Apple Intelligence will transform what users can do with our products – and what our products can do for our users.
“Our unique approach combines generative AI with the user’s personal context to deliver truly actionable intelligence.
“And you can access that information in a completely private and secure way to help users do what matters most to them.
“This is AI, only Apple can deliver it, and we can’t wait for users to experience what it can do.”
SIRI PHOTO ENHANCEMENT
A smarter Siri will offer another photography boost to iPhone owners.
The voice assistant-turned-AI bot will be able to perform hundreds of in-app actions on your behalf.
One example Apple gave was finding photos for you based on voice requests.

You can say something like ‘Show me my photos of Stacey in New York wearing her pink coat’ – and Siri will find it.
Then you could say, ‘Make this photo stand out’ – and Siri will visually enhance it using Apple’s in-app editing tools.
Siri can even find a photo of your driver’s license or passport in the sea of thousands of photos and videos, according to Apple.
The little digital helper can go a step further, extracting your passport number to link it to a flight booking form in Safari.
