APPLE recently announced a series of new features coming to iPhone later this year.

Among all the fanfare surrounding big AI updates with ChatGPT coming to Siri, many missed some small but significant announcements.

And one of those changes is coming to Apple’s Emergency SOS tool.

Currently, the feature works like any other call, except you can activate it by pressing and holding the side button and one of the volume buttons.

But when iOS 18 arrives later this year, Emergency SOS will get a major update that could save even more lives.

Apple is adding live video to Emergency SOS so users can provide more details about their situation to the responder.

“In the middle of an emergency call, participating emergency dispatchers can send a request for a user to share live video or media from the user’s camera over a secure connection, making it easier and faster to get help,” explains Apple .

It will be among a huge list of fancy new features coming to millions of iPhones later this year.

iOS updates usually arrive around the fall.

Front and center of the tech giant’s big announcements last week was the launch of Apple Intelligence, the company’s take on AI.
