USERS of a popular Android brand have complained about an apparent bug that is wreaking havoc with their notifications.

And that could mean they’re missing important messages in the blink of an eye.

The issue appears to be affecting the Google Messages app.

According to multiple reports from owners of affected devices, the supposed bug causes text notifications to strangely disappear almost immediately after appearing, as if they had deleted the alert.

This was raised specifically by Google Pixels users, although it’s unclear whether the issue is widespread.

It first appeared on Reddit more than two weeks ago, but more people have chimed in citing the same thing.

“When new text arrives in Messages, the notification slides down from the top of the screen, but disappears in about a second and doesn’t appear in the status bar or drop-down menu, almost as if it had been dismissed when viewed on the screen. own app,” wrote one user.

“This happens when the phone is unlocked, i.e. when I’m doing something in an app other than Messages. I haven’t changed any settings about notifications in years.”

Another added: “This super strange behavior started a few days ago, I’ve been searching and checking forums and can’t find anyone having the same problem recently.

“I restarted the phone, cleared the app storage, synced everything again, and checked the notification settings for anything strange… I don’t know why this is happening.”

A third wrote: “Happened to me a few times with WhatsApp messages.

“Really worrying as I might miss important messages.”

And a Pixel 7 Pro owner commented: “I’ve been having this problem for months, sometimes I don’t see the little ‘unread’ notification icon on the lock screen, even though I’m in the middle of a conversation, I go to check and apparently a message arrived 5 minutes ago.

“Something is definitely going on with the messaging app notifications.”

Bricks

The annoyance comes as other Google Pixel fans face another annoying bug this week.

Those with a Pixel 6, 6 Pro, or 6A found that their phones were “locked” if they tried to do a factory reset.

After doing the latest system update, affected users encounter an error message during the reset process, often mentioning “Unable to enable ext4 veracity” and a missing “tune2fs” file.

The phone gets stuck in Android recovery mode or goes into a bootloop, leaving Pixel 6, 6 Pro and PA users completely helpless.

Google has confirmed that it is looking for a solution.

“To avoid this issue, we recommend leaving your device turned on and idle for 15 minutes after rebooting after a system update,” the company wrote on its forum.

“After this period, you will be able to factory reset your device.

“Alternatively, you can factory reset your device before performing the latest system update.

“If you’ve already factory reset your Pixel 6, 6 Pro, or 6a and are having issues, stay tuned to this thread for more information and updates.

“The team has identified the root cause of the problem and is working to develop the best possible solution.”
