Three new iPhone features that will NOT be ready in iOS 18 as Apple fans say the company is “racing to catch up” with rivals

APPLE fans are excited about the next iOS update, but there are some important features that won’t be ready as they expected.

The tech giant has put a lot of focus on customizing iOS 18, with the ability to freely move app icons like never before and change the theme.

Apps like Photos and Messages are also getting a major overhaul.

Apple first showcased all of its software developments at a major event in June.

And a public preview allowed users to get a free trial before the general release, which is expected in the fall months.

However, not all of the major features Apple showed off will be ready for iOS 18.

Some won’t be ready for the update yet and will be missing until a future release, potentially iOS 18.1 or later.

This has been made clear from the start by Apple, but some fans are not impressed, saying the company is “racing to catch up” with rivals.

“All I want is for Siri to be smart enough to follow multi-step instructions,” one person wrote on Reddit.

“I wish Apple were as good at software as they are at hardware,” said another.

“Introducing features in June 2024 that won’t launch until 2025 is what start-ups do. Pathetic,” commented a third.

So what features won’t appear immediately in iOS 18?

Siri Updates

One of Apple’s biggest announcements in June was for Siri, which will finally get an AI boost.

However, some important improvements will only come much later.

This includes on-screen recognition, which can understand and act on things on the screen.

For example, if a friend texts you their new address, you can say “Add this address to contact card” and Siri will sort it for you.

Deeper integration and understanding of application functions will also not be available immediately.

Apple Mail

Several top iPhone apps are getting cool new tricks this year.

But Apple Mail will be missing some.

This will include a useful automatic categorization tool for your messages.

Apple Intelligence

Apple Apple Intelligence AI features will be available when iOS 18 arrives.
