The Google app store is believed to have over 3 million apps in total.

But some just aren’t very good or useful.

These types of applications are not security threats, but they can be slow, buggy, and crash.

And Google wants to eliminate them so there is more high-quality content on the platform.

In an update to developers, the company said: “We are updating the spam and minimum functionality policy to ensure apps meet the Play catalog’s high standards and engage users through quality functionality and content user experiences. .

“Apps must provide a stable, responsive, and engaging user experience.

“Applications that crash, lack the appropriate basic degree of usefulness as mobile applications, lack engaging content, or exhibit other behavior that is not consistent with a functional and engaging user experience are not permitted on Google Play.”

Apps with “limited functionality and content” will be banned.

This includes static applications without application-specific functionality, such as text-only or PDF file applications, or applications with very little content.

Broken apps that crash or freeze will also be deleted once the new rules come into effect.

Goodbye Android Lollipop, time to update!

Google warned that the new rules will come into effect on August 31st.

This only applies to apps hosted on Google Play.

What does this mean for my phone?

Don’t be afraid, apps won’t start disappearing from your smartphone.

All of this is designed to get rid of those useless and annoying apps that practically do nothing in the Google Play Store.

The ones you’re probably curious about, download it and realize it’s rubbish.

The goal is to ensure that the Google Play Store is full of good quality apps – quality over quantity, as they say.

But Google has no control over the apps already installed on your phone.

If you have buggy or low-quality apps on your phone, it’s up to you to delete them yourself…
