SAMSUNG smartphones are about to receive a special WhatsApp feature that not even the iPhone can currently match.
The South Korean tech giant is rolling out even more AI-powered tools for select Galaxy models.
This will include things like more advanced image editing.
But there’s also an update to the language and translation elements.
Earlier this year, Samsung unveiled Galaxy AI, its new brand for all things artificial intelligence.
Among the package was real-time translation of messages and calls.
They work on the device, so no private information is sent to the cloud from elsewhere.
And real-time phone call translations play the voice in the selected language – and will do the same for the person on the other end of the line, even if they don’t have a Samsung smartphone.
These tricks were all restricted to Samsung’s own apps at launch.
But now the company is preparing to enable them in third-party apps.

BATTLE FOR AI
In an interview with The Sun, Samsung’s UK boss seemed unfazed by Apple’s big new AI plans for the iPhone.
Samsung’s rival recently revealed Apple Intelligence, which will come to iPhones, after signing a deal with ChatGPT creator OpenAI.
“They can [Apple] compete with us, I would say?” James Kitto, Samsung’s head of mobile devices in the UK and Ireland, exclusively told The Sun.
“We build our own models, our own language models that run specifically on the device, but we’re also working with great partners like Google and we open the door to many others when they have the right kind of solutions that will deliver something tangible to the customer.
“I think what we’ve proven is that you can’t develop AI alone, and I think other players that will eventually come to market with AI have also discovered that this is actually a new open era that we’re in.
“We’ve always been in this, and I think others are finding that they’re going to have to start opening their doors to participate in such a fast-paced industry.”
