IPHONE fans have discovered a new hidden button feature in the upcoming iOS 18 update that has been described as “revolutionary”.

Apple’s long-awaited iPhone update is available to try for free – and every day users discover new secrets.

The obvious changes Apple already announced a few months ago include greater customization so you can freely move apps around on the home screen and even giving all app icons a consistent color scheme.

Users are also excited about the new hidden folder for apps you don’t want anyone to know about.

And there are even some changes to the iPhone flashlight so you can control the light more than ever.

But now another feature has emerged – which is the ability to switch quick apps that appear on the lock screen.

Until now, you were forced to have the torch on the left and the camera on the right.

But in iOS 18, you can change it to any app of your choice.

So maybe Facebook, WhatsApp or Instagram – it’s up to you.

This means iPhone owners can access their favorite apps from the lock screen without having to unlock and find them.

The switch saves a bit of time, with fewer taps needed to get where you want.

But Android users have also criticized the idea, saying the rival device has it “forever”.

More features coming to iOS 18

Home screen

With iOS 18, you’ll be able to freely move app icons wherever you want on your home screen — and even add a little colorful theming to them all.

Control Center

The Control Center is also becoming more customizable, allowing users to reorder icons as well as resize them as desired.

New Photos app

The Photos app is getting a major overhaul as part of iOS 18, with new elements like Collections so you can keep specific content organized in one place.

Messaging app

Users can change the text to bold or italics, as well as send emoji reactions.

You can also turn on RCS messaging, which means you’ll see typing indicators and text delivery status messages when they’re sent to friends using Android.

Lock and hide apps

iPhone owners can hide and lock specific apps they want to keep private in iOS 18 in a hidden folder.

iOS 18 how to download – joining the beta

The iOS 18 public beta helps Apple catch and squash any bugs, but it’s also great if you want to try the new update as soon as possible.

The download is free (and quite simple).

Just go to the Apple Beta page hereregister and register your iPhone.

Then, you can go to Settings > General > Software Update and install the iOS Public Beta as soon as it is released.

But be warned: testing software can be buggy, so back up your device before installing the iOS 18 public beta.
