IPHONE owners have been urged to update a popular app as soon as possible after it was discovered to be draining the battery.

The app in question has been marred by several issues since its launch in May.

Sonos launched an all-new app that works with its premium speakers on May 7th.

But users have complained about issues like playlists not working and devices failing to connect ever since.

Bosses apologized for the chaos, admitting that “many of you have experienced significant issues with our new app”.

“Since May 7, we have released new software updates approximately every two weeks, each bringing significant and meaningful improvements, adding features, and fixing bugs,” CEO Patrick Spence wrote on the Sonos website.

“While these software updates have enabled the majority of our customers to have a robust experience using the Sonos app, there is still more work to be done.”

He added: “We deeply appreciate your patience as we address these issues.

“We know we have work to do to earn back your trust and we are working hard to do just that.”

Angry users have threatened to scrap their Sonos speaker because of the problems.

“Without viable software, the (good) SONOS system is useless.”

Another said: “Throw everything away and go back to the old app. The new one is completely broken.”

In the latest update for iOS, Sonos says it should resolve two issues.

Writing on Reddit, a company representative said it improves stability when adding new products and resolves an issue where the app was using excess phone battery.

MORE UPDATES TO COME

Sonos has revealed a roadmap for even more app updates as it tries to fix stability bugs.

In August, it is expected to implement Music Library configuration, navigation, search and playback.

And between August and September, the company hopes to address volume responsiveness, interface improvements, as well as general stability and error handling.

Sometime in September, Sonos plans to roll out an improvement to alarm consistency and reliability.

Then, between September and October you should see the return of editing mode for playlists and queue, as well as improved functionality in the settings.

iPhone Tricks to Try Today

Here are some of the best…

  • Typing cursor – When typing, hold down the spacebar to turn your keyboard into a trackpad, allowing you to move words and sentences more easily
  • Close all Safari tabs – To do this in one go, simply hold the overlapping squares in the bottom right corner and press close all tabs
  • Delete many photos quickly – Long press a photo and drag your finger diagonally across Photos to select multiple images at once and click delete
  • Convert currency quickly – Swipe down from the top of the home screen (or swipe left to right on an iPhone X or later model), tap the bar and enter a currency (like $200) and it will automatically convert to your local currency
  • Check if you need a battery upgrade – Batteries inside smartphones degrade over time. Just go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health and check the Maximum Capacity reading. Generally, a battery is considered exhausted when its capacity is reduced to 80%. If it’s below, you can buy a battery change from Apple
  • Move apps faster – Hold an app until it starts to jiggle, then (while holding) tap other apps, making them stack so you can move them more easily
