A flight attendant has revealed how to get the best meal service on board.
Choosing your seat on a plane can be more important than it seems, according to Cathay Pacific flight attendant Joyce Chan.
Joyce said Delicious Magazine: “Often meal service starts at the front of the cabin and progresses to the back. Choosing a seat at the front can increase your likelihood of being served sooner.”
She explains that if you sit near the front of the plane you’ll have a better chance of getting what you want because economy class doesn’t have the option to pre-select your meal option.
Normally in Economy class the choice will be between a meat dish and a vegetarian dish.
If you’re a vegetarian and sat in the back of the plane, cross your fingers that the last vegetarian meal hasn’t been served yet.
So if in-flight food is important to you, flying near the front will increase your chances of getting the meal you want and prevent you from going hungry.
On the other hand, Melissa Leong, a cookbook editor and frequent traveler, believes tourists should bring their own food on the flight.
Melissa said Escape: “I’m here to tell you that no one cares if you bring your own food.”
She recommends bringing frozen yogurts and smoothies under 100ml, or perhaps some sweet and savory snacks.
Some sweet and savory ideas could be dark chocolate, dates or vegetarian snacks.
“Our taste buds do a series of things in the air, and it’s always good to choose both options to keep you satiated”, suggests Melissa.
