A flight attendant has revealed that she punishes passengers who refuse to change seats – and you might not be happy about it.

The etiquette of changing seats on planes has sparked fierce debate for years.

Travelers who paid for their seats feel no one should have the right to request them.

Others believe that moving places in certain circumstances is understandable, regardless of whether someone paid.

An experienced flight attendant has shared her tried and trusted method for getting reluctant passengers to swap seats with someone who needs it – and she claims it’s perfect.

Mitra Amirzadeh, an Orlando flight attendant, explained that she will use her diplomatic powers if a child is involved in a heated seat exchange.

She told the Wall Street Journal: “I’ve said before, ‘OK, so you’re going to take care of the child?

“‘You’re going to want the snacks and the coloring books, because they’re going to need those.'”

This often causes the passenger to move to make room for the family, according to Mitra.

However, the flight attendant clarified that she rarely gets involved in discussions about seating that do not involve children.

She added that passengers who paid for their seats should not be forced to change.

“The next time you feel angry or frustrated about not getting the seat you want, remember that you didn’t pay to choose the seat.”

Such petty interactions are far from a rare occurrence for Mitra and his team, who say disputes over seat swaps have occurred on approximately 80% of their monthly flights.

It comes after a former flight attendant revealed that some travelers often forget that some seats cannot be taken for free.

Most passengers who see an empty row on a plane may be tempted to change seats.

Bobby Laurie, a former Virgin American flight attendant, explained that some airlines have designated rows “as premium or preferred seats.”

Cabin crew regularly check the manifest to see if there are any passengers sitting there.

Unsuspecting travelers could be kicked out of these seats.

He added that passengers can move around, but the crew will tell them “when and where”.

It’s not just the cost, but also the weight of the plane.

Bobby said the crew needs to provide pilots with passenger counts in each section to calculate the weight and balance of the plane.

If too many move, it could cause problems with numbers.

Here are five things you should also avoid doing when traveling by plane.

And these annoying vacation habits can ruin other hotel guests’ vacations.

How to Get Off a Plane Without Being Rude

  • Don’t jump out of your seat as soon as the plane lands
  • Don’t rush in front of others
  • Wait your turn
  • Your backpack or carry-on luggage should not be used as a weapon
  • Don’t pick up your phone and start shouting into it
  • Good manners, good manners, good manners
