The tallest and fastest triple launch roller coaster has been forced to close indefinitely – just days after opening.
Top Thrill 2 debuted on May 4 in Cedar Point, Ohio, USA, with top speeds of 190 km/h.
Replacing the original Top Thrill ride, also known as The Dragster, the new coaster reached heights of 420 feet.
However, it was forced to shut down due to a “mechanical failure”.
The theme park said in a statement: “Top Thrill 2 is currently undergoing an extended closure while Zamperla (the ride manufacturer) completes a mechanical modification to the ride vehicles.
“Once the modification is complete, Zamperla, the Cedar Point maintenance and operations teams, and our third-party driving inspection partner will perform a thorough evaluation analysis before approving the modification and reopening of the tour.
“We know our guests are excited to experience this incredible roller coaster and we share their disappointment that we will not be able to operate it this weekend.
“We will do everything possible to reopen Top Thrill 2 as soon as we are confident we can provide the travel experience our guests deserve.”
The ride is closed indefinitely because the theme park said it was “unable to confirm a reopening date.”
People were devastated by News.
One person said: “‘I’m going on Friday and I’m so upset that TT2 isn’t running.’
Someone said: “I can’t believe Cedar Point has already closed Top Thrill 2 indefinitely… it opened like it was yesterday, didn’t it?!”
A third wrote: “We came from mass in June, I hope you come back then.”

Use these tips on your next theme park trip

The next time you visit a theme park, you might want to use our tips to make the most of your adrenaline-filled day.
- Go to the back of the theme park first. The rides at the front will have the longest lines once they open.
- Take water rides in the middle of the day in summer – this will cool you down when the sun is at its hottest.
- Download the park app to find out which attractions have the shortest lines.
- Visit on your birthday, as some parks give out “birthday badges” that can earn you gifts.
- If it rains, contact the park. Depending on how much it rained, you might be able to get a free ticket to return.
