THOUSANDS of English fans will fork out big money to follow the Three Lions for Germany at Euro 2024 this summer.
But with the cost of absolutely everything skyrocketing these days, you might think there’s no way you can afford that trip.
But think again, because SunSport traveled to Germany and found out how you can support Gareth Southgate’s team from top to bottom in the land of schnitzel and pints of beer for LESS THAN £700!
ARRIVING IN GERMANY
England begin their Group C campaign at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen – home of Schalke and the scene of Cristiano Ronaldo’s infamous wink after Wayne Rooney’s red card against Portugal in the 2006 World Cup.
Dusseldorf is the closest airport to the stadium.
But the cheapest London-Dusseldorf flight the day before the Three Lions opens costs around £350.
So SunSport flew into Cologne-Bonn airport, which is just an hour’s train ride from Gelsenkirchen and available for just £56 on June 15th!
GAME ONE – England v Serbia, Gelsenkirchen – June 16
Hotels in Gelsenkirchen cost around £225 per person per night.
So we headed to Duisburg, which is just half an hour by train from the stadium and where rooms are available for £56 per person per night.
As is the Hotel am Freihafen, where a two-bedroom apartment from June 15th to 17th is available for £224 in total.
It wasn’t by any means the most luxurious place we’ve ever stayed, but it’s a great place to relax just steps away from England’s first game at the Veltins Arena.
If you can throw a stone 30 km, that’s it.
TWO GAMES – England x Denmark, Frankfurt – June 20
Imagine now, it’s the morning after England beat Serbia 1-0 in the opening game.
Thousands of Three Lions fans are heading home, but you’re heading to Frankfurt and ready to support the team ahead of their toughest group game against Denmark.
Hotels in Frankfurt city center cost around £71 per person per night.
So we’re heading to Offenbach, just six miles east of Frankfurt, where an entire apartment for six people will add just £43 per person per night to your euro spending.
We took the four and a half hour bus from Duisburg main station, which only cost us £22.
And once you’re there, a 15-minute train ride will take you to the Nordsternplatz fan zone.
An all-day city train ticket will cost just £10, which will also take you to Eintracht Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park stadium if you’re lucky enough to have a ticket for the game.
GAME THREE – England v Slovenia, Cologne – June 24
Okay, you gave yourself an extra day in Frankfurt to sleep off your hangover after England made easy work of Denmark.
And you’re ready to go to Cologne to beat the boys to the finish line against Slovenia.
But instead of following the hordes of fans who have to shell out big bucks to stay in Cologne city center, you and your fellow savvy spenders head to Bonn.
West Germany’s former capital is just a half-hour train ride south of Cologne, with rooms available for a fraction of the price.
Fortunately, there are no more four-and-a-half-hour bus rides to get there.
Instead, we’ll take a one-hour train to Siegburg, passing Frankfurt’s main airport, before a 20-minute tram ride takes us to Bonn.
All this for just £37.
A four-night stay at the Belmont Classic Hotel between 22nd and 26th June will cost just £43 per person per night.
Whereas a similar room in Cologne city center will cost around £85 per person per night.
(IS) COMING HOME
It’s time to come home and support the Three Lions from the comfort of your sofa or in the local pub.
But just because the fun is about to end, the bargain hunting certainly doesn’t stop.
So we boarded a train and then a bus to Frankfurt Hahn Airport, rather than making the 20-minute journey to Cologne-Bonn Airport, where flights will cost at least £155 the day after England’s game against to Slovenia.
By making the three-hour journey to Hahn, you’ll save around £130 with flights at £24 within 24 hours of the final whistle of England’s group stage campaign.

Be careful when booking properties with private hosts rather than hotels or hostels – especially if they don’t have previous reviews.
This video was not sponsored, but I found the most useful sites to use were SkyScanner for the cheapest flights, Booking.com for cheap hotels, Rome2Rio for getting from one city to another, and Citymapper for the best way to get around each place when we were. there.
Of course, other comparison apps and sites are available.
Prices were correct at the time of filming, but they change all the time and will likely increase as we get closer to the tournament, so act fast!
Have a good trip and COME TO ENGLAND!
