Southwest Airlines first announced the new seats on February 2, 2024.

Now, the upgrade in economy will provide a more luxurious experience.

The brightness of the cabin gives passengers the feeling of flying in a better class without spending a lot of money on it.

The new seats are expected to debut in the skies in 2025.

FLYING HIGH

The cabin renovation includes higher quality seats from the company Recaro.

The company is known for its ergonomic seats for everything from automobiles to aircraft.

The move comes as Southwest Airlines seeks to modernize its cabins.

Recaro Aircraft Seating and Recaro Holding CEO Mark Hiller commented on the changes.

“Recaro is proud to collaborate in expanding our presence in the Americas, especially when working with a local partner like Southwest, which began its story at the same time as us,” he said.

“Our new seat will be a great addition to the Southwest customer experience, as its durable design and comfort features will serve passengers well.”

The new seats will have comfortable padding, adjustable headrests and support for viewing in-flight entertainment on personal devices.

Southwest Airlines Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer Tony Roach commented on the growing economy.

“Southwest stands above our competition with industry-leading flexibility and our legendary hospitality,” he said.

“Our redesigned cabin interior significantly improves the in-flight customer experience and will complement the incredible service our crews provide.”

WHAT ELSE IS NEW?

Southwest Airlines has even more news for those who want to travel on a budget without compromising on style.

The interiors are undergoing a complete renovation, including updated color schemes and faster WiFi.

Leading design firm Tangerine’s creative director, Matt Round, commented on their partnership with Southwest Airlines.

“We are delighted to be part of Southwest’s historic journey and the next phase of its modernization plan,” he said.

“We listened to Southwest customers and employees and responded by creating a distinctive new cabin interior that meets and exceeds their desires.

Working closely with Southwest and all suppliers involved, we were able to ensure that the design intent was executed in the cabin with the highest quality possible.

“The impressive result is a testament to what can be achieved through a collaborative spirit from everyone involved.”
