A PICTURESQUE spot in the United States has become known for its similarities to the Swiss Alps, without the hefty price tag.

The travel destination is open half the year and is a prime location for shopping, hiking and dining.

Many have dreamed of going to the Alpine region of Switzerland, also known as the Swiss Alps.

It is a major natural attraction in Europe and extends across several countries.

The picturesque location is a must-see for many travelers who are avid hiking enthusiasts and enjoy mountain views.

But for many Americans, a trip to the Swiss Alps is out of their budget.

Not only are flights from the US to Switzerland expensive, but the country also has a high cost of living, according to Dark Journey.

Luckily, there’s a Swiss Alps jerk in the US that’s perfect for the budget traveler.

There’s a town in North Carolina that offers the perfect getaway.

The destiny, Little Switzerlandit is a paradise for nature enthusiasts, tourists and climbers.

Travel blogger Staci Wilt wrote about the tourist hotspot of Food toursaying it is “more than just a town with a population of 46.”

She explained that it is “very popular with car and motorcycle enthusiasts” who want to drive around to savor some of the scenic views.

It’s about an hour’s drive from Asheville and is nestled in the mountains of North Carolina along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Although it is further south, it has a strong Swiss influence.

The architectural styles of the buildings, the names of the companies and even some local activities are reminiscent of those in Switzerland.

Little Switzerland is only open about six months a year during the warmer months.

From November to April, most resorts and restaurants that accommodate visitors are closed due to weather conditions.

Icy road conditions directly impact tourism.

DINING DECISIONS

There is something for everyone in Little Switzerland.

Even if you’re not an outdoors fanatic and nature lover, there are plenty of upscale cafes and dining options to try.

Chalé Switzerland Inn Restaurant

If you are visiting the area, stop by Swiss Inn and eat at Chalet Restaurant.

While sitting, it offers beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with several unique options for you to choose from.

Fowl Play Pub and Tap Room

The Fowl Play Pub & Tap Room is also located at the Switzerland Inn.

The place is a perfect place to relax while enjoying some drinks and bar food like burgers and wings.

According to Little Switzerland website“you can enjoy 20 beers on tap, including a wide variety of local craft beers, wines and mixed drinks.”

Café Switzerland

One of the benefits of visiting Little Switzerland is having the opportunity to eat authentic North Carolina barbecue.

Switzerland Cafe has “one of the largest wood-fired smokers in the state,” according to its website.

Open for over 30 years, it takes place on the North Carolina Barbecue Trail thanks to Applewood smoked trout and hickory smoked pork barbecue.
