A major US airline is launching all new routes that won’t cost much.
The flights will take travelers to sunny Florida, including Orlando and Palm Beach.
JetBlue already operates in the New York City area, but plans to add new routes from Long Island MacArthur Airport.
The flights will take New Yorkers to Orlando, Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The fares won’t break the bank either, with $49 one-way tickets available on JetBlue’s website.
The airline is known for its commitment to comfort, offering the most legroom in economy cabins of any U.S. airline.
FLY BY
The flight schedule will take travelers to the Sunshine State throughout the week.
It will include daily flights from Long Island to Orlando.
JetBlue will offer trips to Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach four times a week.
The Orlando and West Palm Beach routes are scheduled to begin on October 24, 2024, while flights to Fort Lauderdale will begin the following day.
HOME SWEET HOME
With JetBlue’s roots in New York, the new routes stay true to their origins.
Dave Jehn, vice president of network planning and airline partnerships at JetBlue, gave his thoughts on the change.
“Long Island is an integral part of the New York metropolitan area and we are excited to bring our award-winning service to customers in this community,” he said in a statement.
“The addition of Long Island MacArthur Airport to our network will provide more options and greater convenience for customers.
“And we are proud to offer new opportunities for more Long Islanders to experience our unique combination of low rates and excellent service.”
Senator Chuck Schumer of New York also weighed in on the new routes.
“More Long Islanders will fly to and from MacArthur Airport now that JetBlue will soon begin flights from Islip to Orlando, Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale,” he said in a press release.
“I have long encouraged JetBlue to begin service at LI MacArthur because Long Islanders need more travel options, and the airport’s success is key to a more vibrant Long Island economy.
“Under the stewardship of Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and Airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken, the airport has reached even greater heights.
“And I will continue to work with them to secure federal funding to make improvements and attract even more services.
“I applaud JetBlue for its decision and will continue to work with all stakeholders to transform MacArthur Airport into an economic engine and world-class transportation hub.”
Right now, JetBlue has 8,800 crew members in New York and projects the move will create even more jobs and promote tourism.
To take advantage of the one-way deals, they must be booked by June 13, 2024 for fall travel.
