TikToker Kiera Payne (@keekstravels) warned others about possible problems that could arise when traveling the world in a viral video.

The popular practice could be considered defacing the passport, making it invalid.

The point is to get souvenir stamps from tourist attractions directly into your passport.

Some examples include Disneyland in California and Machu Picchu in Peru.

WHAT ARE SOUVENIR STAMPS?

Souvenir stamps are any passport stamps that do not come from a border patrol officer.

Stamps can come from local attractions as a novelty for travelers.

Payne expressed understanding about why people would use souvenir stamps, but said it’s just not worth it.

“Put it in your travel journal,” she advised.

“Don’t put it in your passport because you won’t be able to go home.”

Payne also pointed out that an agent could actually disrupt the trip, making the passport invalid and making it difficult to return home.

JET SET GO

Several TikTokers commented on the souvenir stamp issue in the comments section.

People agreed with Payne’s stance on the matter.

“Passport is something I don’t play with,” wrote one. “I don’t even put a cape on mine.”

I can’t face it, I made a huge mistake in my passport photo and I can’t fix it… people say I look like a floating egg or Snow White’s magic mirror

“They don’t understand,” added another.

“You can do it, but you just need an agent to deny it and now you’re stuck and have to pay [money] to obtain a new passport.”

“The amount of people in the comments who don’t know the difference between regular stamps and souvenir stamps is worrying,” said a third.

“I don’t play with my government documents. They make you work hard to get them,” wrote another.

“They have passport books with stamps,” said another.

“They feel like an innovative stamp-only passport on Amazon.”

“Yes, they need to stamp anything other than the actual passport,” Payne replied.
