But now an expert has revealed that, for patients, travel time was an important factor.

The expert points out that the aircraft were cleaner in the morning, after deep cleaning overnight.

However, for anyone with food allergies, a red-eye flight may be preferable.

Flying at night reduced the amount of potential food allergy triggers on your flight.

Amena Warner, Head of Clinical Services at Allergy UK says: “Travelling with food allergies requires extra precautions as airlines will have their own food allergy management policy, and this can vary from airline to airline.

“It is important that people are aware of the policy of the airline they are traveling with.

“We advise proactively alerting the airline of allergy needs before travel and, if possible, arriving early for the flight to confirm seat requests and early boarding.

“Travelling with food allergies can be really challenging and it is very important that airlines, staff and passengers understand this and the risks involved for the person with the allergy.”

BA recommends: “Make sure your medicine is easily accessible throughout the flight, for example, put it in your seat pocket or on your person.

“Inform the cabin crew and people sitting next to you about your allergy, where you put your medicine and what to do in case of an emergency.”

A flight attendant has revealed why you should always use the overhead bin in front of your seat.

Travel writer Emily Cappiello told how she was one of the last passengers to board her leg of a flight from Toronto to New York.

She quickly realized that there was no room in the overhead space for her bag.

To solve the problem, she found the first empty space and placed the bag on top of it, before returning to her seat.

However, another passenger complained that she had used his overhead space.

The flight attendant then solved the problem by storing the other passenger’s briefcase in her locker.

Ann, a flight attendant, offered some expert opinions on the matter.

She said: “As a passenger, I would look for space in front of my seat. This is mainly to make disembarking easier.

“With the single aisle and the flow of people leaving,
it’s easier to pick it up on the way out than to go back to get your bag.

“As a flight attendant, I would say find the location closest to your seat.
This way, passengers can keep an eye on their belongings from their seat. Whether you’re ahead or behind varies in each situation.”

The clever ‘plus one’ trick

By Summer Raemason

A ‘plus one’ GENIUS travel hack has been revealed that allows passengers to put ALL their clothes in their hand luggage.

“The world’s most experienced” aviator Tom Stucker, who has racked up an impressive 23 million miles, has shared his top space-saving trick.

He follows a simple ‘plus one’ rule, which means just packing the essentials and a backup.

The travel guru also suggested packing items that are easy to clean.

It’s crucial not to settle for “what if” scenarios and brutally cut out all extras, according to Tom.

Yolanda Edwards, founder of travel magazine Yolo Journal, added: “You’ll be the one who, when you get home, thinks, ‘I didn’t use eight of these things, but I swore I needed them.’

“Try to remember all those packaging mistakes and try not to repeat them.”

This includes reducing your consumption of personal hygiene products and only bringing the bare minimum.

It can also save space by using smaller travel containers instead of the original bottles.

And many essential items can be purchased while you are at local stores or even at the airport.
