Thomas G. Mockler, CEO of InflightDirect, one of the world’s leading suppliers of airline headphones, alluded to the harmful environmental consequences that the item entails.

It comes as a 2010 Report It is estimated that 9,000 tons of plastic go straight from planes to landfills every year.

“Environmental sustainability is a constant issue across all airlines around the world,” said Thomas Thriller.

“Many advances have occurred over the past 20 years to make most items used on board environmentally friendly.

“This extends to the products themselves and the packaging of each product.”

MORE BEAUTIFUL TRAVEL TIPS

It comes after a flight attendant revealed why passengers should never wear short sleeves on a plane.

American Airlines crew member Andrea Fischbach issued an important warning to tourists – one that could protect them from serious harm.

Most people know not to wear restrictive clothing or flimsy footwear – but many have never heard of this little-known tip.

Experienced traveler Andrea said whowhatwear.com: “One rule that my mother made me follow and that I still follow to this day is to always have my body covered.

Primark shoppers struggle to get travel essentials under £10 – and there’s a £1.30 buy that’s great for long-haul flights

“Emergency slides are no fun to fall into and hurt – a lot – and it’s not a smooth landing when you get to the end of the slide.

“The more you cover the skin’s surface, the more protection for your largest organ.”

The experienced flight attendant also revealed why you should leave tight clothes in your suitcase.

During travel, it is common for people to experience some swelling.

Items like jeans can decrease blood flow if you don’t keep moving.

Six things you should never wear on a plane

Shorts

This advice comes from TikTok user Tommy Cimato, who warned against pants that end above the knee in a viral videobecause the chairs are not cleaned regularly.

He said: “Do not wear or try not to wear shorts when on a plane.

“You never know how clean it’s going to be, so if you have pants [trousers]you’ll have fewer germs.”

Tight clothes

Andrea also recommended leaving restrictive clothing in your suitcase during the flight.

“It’s really important to be able to move around a little in the chair – very difficult, I know – and keep the blood flowing,” she said.

“If you are tall, travel a lot or take a long flight, this is extremely important because you are at risk of developing DVT.

“Swelling is a big problem, even for flight attendants, so wear something comfortable around your waist, like an elastic band.”

High heels

Andrea continued: “I really advise against wearing high heels, mainly for safety reasons.

“If there is an evacuation and slides are needed, high heels will have to come off as they could puncture the slide.

“Plus, they’re not very practical for running door to door.”

Leggings

Aviation expert Christine Negroni, who has released a book about the world’s most mysterious air disasters, has revealed that leggings can be fatal if the plane you are traveling in crashes or there is a fire in the cabin.

She told Sun Online Travel: “You may have to escape a fire in the cabin or there may be a separate fire on the ground when you exit the aircraft.

“Everyone wears yoga pants on planes now, but I avoid all artificial fibers because they are more likely to burn and stick to you if there is a fire.

“I recommend wearing cotton clothing or anything made from natural fibers.”

Flip flops

CNN aviation analyst Mary Schiavo’s top recommendation when traveling is to always avoid wearing flip-flops.

She said: “Please wear comfortable shoes and leave them on until after takeoff.

“I see people boarding with flip-flops and I think if you have to get up and run and fall or can’t run, not only are you going to hurt yourself, but you’re going to hurt dozens of other people. on this plane.

“Then get some shoes.”

Jeans

Speaking with Mother of heavenFlight attendant Katie Ellen revealed that it’s always best to avoid jeans because your legs can swell when in the air.

Katie said: “I’m a flight attendant and former ground crew. The swell is real.

“You can start the day with a flat stomach and by the time you get to the other side you will have a swollen intestine.”

“If you are tall, travel a lot or take a long flight, this is extremely important because you are at risk of developing DVT,” Andrea explained.

Elsewhere, other flight attendants revealed the strangest antics passengers get up to on board.

Some confessed to their most bizarre customer requests – and the industry’s best-kept secrets.

A cabin crew member told tourists the five Holy Grail tips for avoiding jet lag.

Meanwhile, another exposed the “naughty” things passengers do on planes that can ruin their luggage.
