THIS Fourth of July weekend, take a trip further south to a small Texas town that attracts 500,000 visitors every year.
Its year-end festivities bring together travelers from near and far for spectacular fireworks, an air show and tantalizing skydiving expeditions.
If you’re trying to get out of town for the Fourth of July weekend but aren’t sure where to go, look no further than Addison, Texas.
Normally the city has a population of less than 20,000, but during this special time of year, it attracts half a million visitors to its paved streets and grassy fields.
Tourists flock outside to catch a glimpse of the much-anticipated and talked-about ‘Kaboom Town!’ Show.
VIEW TO SEE
Ranked as one of the top five fireworks shows by USA Today, City of Addison Kaboom! will take place on July 3rd.
O American Pyrotechnic Association also praised in a release where they said “Everything is bigger in Texas and that’s true of the exceptional Addison Kaboom Town!”
They added that attendees can “witness Pyro Shows of Texas’ world-class patriotic display.”
They also shared that this year’s production will feature “ghost” shells that will “break from side to side in a wave along with diamond screamers and stained glass shells.”
The event has attracted attention over the past four decades with not only a light show, but also aerial displays, air shows and live music.
It’s a great way to kick off holiday festivities that last into the next day.
The fireworks show only lasts 25 minutes, but there are a number of activities before and after that people of all ages can experience.
LOCATION LEADER
It’s such a lively event for the city that parties take place in over 200 local restaurants.
There are food deals, happy hour drink deals, and media exposure opportunities.
But if you want to be part of the action, Addison Circle Park offers tickets for an entertainment-filled VIP experience.
According to the event websitetickets are $10 for anyone 10 and older, $5 for children ages two to nine, and free for children two and under.
The real ‘Kaboom City!’ the show doesn’t start until 9:30 pm, but the park gates open at 5 pm.
There is a program of events that includes musical performances, Presentation of Colors, singing of the National Anthem and more musical performances by Big City Outlaws and Emerald City Band.
Ticket buyers also get a front row seat at the Addison Airport Airshow.
UP, UP AND AWAY
The air show begins at 7:30 pm and will begin with a skydiving performance choreographed by the Red River Skydivers who will hold a large American flag.
Then historic planes like the B-25 “Devil Dog” and the P-40 Warhawk will fly through the sky.
Additionally, acrobats will perform daring stunts for the audience below.
Finally, celebrate with the whole family at a seasonal carnival filled with rides, games and festive snacks.
