SUMMER can last forever; as long as you have the will, there is a way.
A low-cost airline is launching new routes this fall that help snowbirds, or people migrating from colder climates to warmer places, typically in winter, travel for less.
In the fall, Breeze Airways will launch three new direct routes to Florida from New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont.
The routes are scheduled to take off in October from Fort Myers and Tampa and land in Long Island, NY, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA, and Burlington, VT.
“Breeze continues to expand our fall and winter service to Florida and now serves eight destinations within the state,” Breeze Airways President Tom Doxey said in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure.
“Now, guests in Long Island, Burlington and Scranton will have more opportunities to escape to the Sunshine State while enjoying Breeze’s Seriously Nice service and rates.”
The airline offers three levels of economy fare options, “Nice”, “Nicer” and “Nicest”.
Travelers can upgrade to get perks like extra legroom, USB-C outlets, reclining seats, checked luggage, and complimentary snacks.
The airline will launch the new routes on a staggered schedule.
The route from Fort Myers, Florida, to Long Island-Islip, New York, will launch for the first time on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting October 2.
Starting October 4, routes from Fort Myers, Florida, to Burlington, Vermont, will continue on Mondays and Fridays.
Flights from Tampa, Florida, to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania, will begin on Mondays and Fridays starting October 18.
To better connect Floridians with the Northeast, the airline will increase service from four weekly routes to five between Orlando and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton beginning October 8.
Luckily for snowbirds, the airline also discounted its fares for an introductory promotion.
Travelers can take advantage of $79 one-way fares if they book by 11:59 pm PT on July 1.
Discounted fares are only valid for travel until January 7, 2025.
Tourists can also take advantage of the airline’s round-trip flight promotion, which offers passengers 35% off round-trip flights with the code “DUPE”.
Run, don’t walk as the promotion ends June 27 for flights from August 14 to January 7, 2025.
Holiday travelers will also not be able to participate as blackout dates include November 20 to December 3 and December 18 to January 5, 2025.
The airline has announced potential plans to expand its international routes this year.
Breeze CEO David Neeleman announced that the airline is currently seeking approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to fly to international countries, including Europe.
Although Breeze currently flies to 45 cities in 27 states, the airline does not yet have international destinations.
