Disney World’s Fort Wilderness Resort in Florida has opened its updated cabins to guests.

The park, which offers guests the opportunity to escape the traditional theme park experience and venture into nature, offers itineraries such as swimming, fishing, archery and horseback riding.

While the experience feels much more like camping in the woods, loyal Disney fans will be delighted to know that it’s just across the river from the Magic Kingdom.

The company announced a renovation of its iconic log cabins with a refreshed look and new amenities.

Although the cabins are the same size, with a similar one-bedroom, one-bathroom layout (themed, of course), their old wooden exterior has been swapped for a more modern look.

Visitors have the luxury of a spacious living room, breakfast nook and kitchen complete with all the necessary appliances, including a Mickey Mouse refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and ovens.

A convertible living (and sleeping) area allows the cabin to sleep up to six people, as well as two queen beds and twin bunk beds in a separate bedroom.

Perhaps the biggest improvement is the cabin’s new floor-to-ceiling windows, which greatly enhance the feel of the entire complex.

Guests can even get outdoors in the comfort of their own home, with a patio deck that allows for barbecues and nights of stargazing.

To book, travelers must be part of the Disney Vacation Clubwhich includes a membership fee to stay on Disney properties.

Membership includes access to dozens of properties across the country, with resorts in Florida, California, South Carolina and Hawaii.

Although many cabins have been completely renovated, the project is not yet complete, with the old wooden cabins still to be replaced.

Upon completion of the project, there will be 365 cabins in total.

Fans can book their stay up to 11 months before check-in, with window closed one day before check-in date.

Earlier this year, Florida Manufactured Home Sales purchased 100 Disney log cabins and put them up for sale.

The second news was that Disney fans could have the tiny house of their dreams, the units started selling like hot cakes.

Although officials with Florida Manufactured Home Sales said nearly all of the 100 cabins have been snatched up, owner James Robert “JR” Morrison said there may still be hope for any die-hard Disney enthusiast who wants to become a homeowner.

“Keep your eyes open,” he told her. Florida today.

“Some of these people who bought them won’t be able to keep these things. I anticipate that a certain amount will be put up for sale by the owner.”

For those looking to venture outside of the traditional real estate market, he explained that a log cabin can be a great investment.

“It definitely showed me that there is a huge amount of Disney fans and secondly, tiny houses are the way, they are the future,” Morrison said.

“A lot of people won’t be able to afford that $500,000 house. Today’s generation doesn’t want big houses. It’s a great alternative.”
