The expert revealed which items “never put in checked luggage, regardless of the duration of the flight”.

TikTok user @thepointsguywho has an impressive 730,000 followers, explained that you should keep some things with you in case your luggage is stolen or lost.

He warned against bringing common holiday essentials such as adapters, sunscreen, contact lenses and medicines in checked luggage.

The TikTok user said, “You can get a doctor to order your prescription, but this becomes more complicated if it’s a weekend or holiday or if your medication doesn’t allow refills before your previous prescription runs out.”

Few of us think twice about putting our electronics in our bags, thinking they’ll be safe – but the TikToker warned against it.

“While most are trustworthy, not all are,” speaking of the small but very real risk that airline personnel, including baggage handlers, can pose.

The TikToker emphasized that the same applies to “items with significant personal value,” including “jewelry and money.”

The rule he used was that you should be careful about keeping things in your checked luggage if it would cause you “financial or emotional loss.”

Instead of taking these risks, keep them with you at all times – this way you will be in control of your destiny.

Something you might not think about packing in your carry-on luggage is expensive sunscreen and adapters.

In other words, anything you deem necessary should stay with you – you never know what will happen to it.

How to avoid overloading your suitcase

It comes after a passenger revealed the “weird plane seat” that allows you to sit next to the crew.

The bizarre setup is perfect for couples, with the row having just two passenger seats while the rest of the plane has three.

Flyer Chris Olsen revealed the seats in a TikTok clip – which were found in row 10 of an American Airlines Airbus A321.

The 43-year-old was flying from Phoenix to San Diego last month when he came across the strange sight.

He captioned the clip: “Weird plane seats you have to see to believe in the Airbus edit.”

Despite having only two passenger seats, there are three seats in the row.

The third is an ‘auxiliary seat’ and is reserved for flight attendants who need the seat for takeoff and landing.

Strangely, the seat faces backwards, towards the passengers sitting in row 11.

This is because the auxiliary seat is close to the plane’s emergency exit, making it necessary for a crew member to be there in the event of an emergency.

Olsen said News week: “I reserved this seat on purpose because I’m an aviation geek and like trying out weird seat layouts for the love of planes.”

Three Travel Tricks to Save Money

READY to escape the dreary weather? Here are some tips to save money

TIME TO FLY: Always use a flight comparison website, such as fly-scanner.com or kayak.co.uk, which will look for the cheapest operator on your chosen route.

Airlines release tickets up to a year in advance and, generally, the earlier you book, the cheaper the flights are.

This is especially true if you plan to fly during peak periods, like summer holidays.

FLEXIBLE WINS: You’ll be able to find the best deals if you can be flexible on your destination or travel dates.

Flying midweek tends to be the cheapest, while Fridays and Sundays tend to be the most expensive.

If you’ve set dates in mind, try Skyscanner’s “Everywhere” search tool, which will show you the cheapest destinations available at those times.

PACKAGING: You can generally save money by opting for an all-inclusive deal rather than booking flights and hotels separately, according to research from consumer group Which?.

However, it depends on the destination, so it’s worth doing your research.

Spain was found to be cheaper all-inclusive, but you would be better off taking a DIY holiday to the Algarve in Portugal.
