An amusement park has given the green light for a new $3 million go-kart racing track.
theme park CJ Barrymore in Clinton Township, Michigan, plans to open its three-story Indy SkyTrack in the spring.
The 30-foot-tall, 1,500-foot-long ride will open to the public on May 3.
David Dalpizzol, vice president of CJ Barrymore, explained that the project had been in the works for months, just in time for the park’s upcoming anniversary.
“The expansion has been in the works for some time and comes as we celebrate 50 years of entertainment this year,” said Dalpizzol.
“The enthusiasm started in September, when we started construction.
“[We] began the day after Labor Day. We had a tremendous, mild winter, which allowed construction to progress very quickly.”
SkyTrack began as a renovation of an old race track built in the 1980s.
The older track previously had a three-lane pit, which will be doubled to six lanes in the renovation.
Mario Bros. fans will be happy to know that the real-life kart ride, like the video game, will be rated E for everyone with no age restrictions.
Lone riders, however, will have to be at least 2 feet tall to drive unaccompanied.
For those who do not meet the height requirements, double strollers will be available for onboard passengers who are at least 40 inches tall and companions who are 16 years of age or older.
The theme park is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until June 1st.
The park will be open daily during summer hours starting in June.
Visitors can purchase an all-day wristband, which includes access to SkyTrack, for $49.
For those interested in individual tours, the ticket cost is R$12.
Wristband holders can enjoy the 25-acre theme park’s suspended towers, ferris wheel, arcade, roller coasters and zip line.

The indoor and outdoor theme park features hundreds of arcade games, a bowling alley, laser tag, bumper cars and golf.
For outdoor thrill seekers, the Loop and Spinning Coaster are sure to take adrenaline seekers for a ride.
Aptly named, the Loop roller coaster turns riders upside down with a 360-degree loop.
Parents can bring their loved ones on the family-friendly Spinning Coaster, which features a figure-eight track design and spinning vehicles.
The Soaring Eagle Zipline takes visitors high and quickly into the air, an impressive 120 feet high and more than 200 feet long.
Driving enthusiasts can also check out the park’s Turbo and Grand Prix track, which offers furious high-speed racing on polished concrete tracks.
