Priority boarding, reclining seats and a glass of champagne in hand may be closer than you think, according to flight attendants.

Travel and Leisure said: “Upgrading to first class isn’t just a matter of luck – it’s a matter of strategy.”

Why will they see?

In anticipation of no-shows, airlines tend to sell excess seats, which can result in many passengers having to move if they all show up.

“Overbooking is common in the summer and often results in passenger movement, leading to upgrades,” said Lauren.

She hinted that traveling between June and September could be her ticket to flying first class.

Lauren also suggested “staying close to the designated gate to take advantage of any last-minute update opportunities.”

This demonstrates your interest and flexibility. Expressing loyalty to an airline can also be your ticket.

How can I be prioritized?

Keira Vaughn, a flight attendant at American Airlines, explained: “Frequent fliers who demonstrate loyalty to an airline are often rewarded with first class seats over non-members.”

This method can be more effective when traveling at peak times, when airlines want to prioritize passengers who regularly choose their service.

Vaughn encouraged flying frequently and always using a loyalty number when booking so airlines will know how to identify you.

IS in the day?

Arriving for your flight early and keeping an eye out for possible upgrades or offers at the gate can increase your chances of being picked first if a gate agent announces that a flight is full.

Early check-ins can also result in better seating assignments.

Vaughn recommended that “talking to gate agents before boarding begins can also help you stay on their radar for any last-minute seat changes.”

Using airline apps or subscribing to text alerts can also keep you ahead of the game.
