A NEW 100,000-square-foot indoor water park aims to make a big splash with high-tech amenities, but you’ll have to wait for that.
The Bellevue Bay Indoor Water Park will be the newest aquatic addition to Bellevue, Nebraska.
City officials approved construction of the theme park as the center of their $60 million project, which will reform the formation of a 575-acre district.
The renovations, part of the city’s “Good Life Districts,” were authorized by the state legislature in order to bolster the retail, entertainment and tourism industries.
Good Life Districts are investments for the city, as half of the sales tax revenue generated in the districts goes back to help pay for its amenities.
The park is expected to generate about $900,000 in sales tax revenue per year.
The huge indoor water park will be open year-round and will feature a retractable roof that opens the space for as long as it allows.
It will be modeled after the Epic Waters Indoor water park in Grand Prairie, Texas, and the city hired American Resort Management, which worked on the Texas park, to build it.
“We expect thousands of visitors from across the Midwest to visit Bellevue Bay Indoor Waterpark every year, and this name lets them know exactly where it is and what it is,” said Bellevue Mayor Rusty Hike in a statement . declaration.
“It is important and we are proud to have the name of our city associated with a project of this magnitude.
“Visitors will go home and tell their friends how much fun they had at ‘Bellevue Bay Indoor Waterpark!'”
The family-friendly theme park is expected to include a selection of water rides, including waterslides, a lazy river, wave pools and interactive play spaces, with Bellevue residents receiving discounted admission.
Guests will also have convenience, as the park will be located close to food and beverage outlets, retail stores, event spaces and attached to hotels.
The city reported in a declaration that negotiations are currently underway with national hotel brands such as Raddison, Marriott and Hilton.
The designated hotels will be connected to the park via “covered, climate-controlled walkways to better serve guests in the fall and winter months.”
The Bellevue Bay Indoor Water Park is expected to generate a huge return for the city, with more than $70 million in projected annual economic activity.
The city also anticipates an increase in pedestrian traffic, with more than 400,000 annual visitors expected.
“This innovative project represents a significant investment in Bellevue’s tourism and leisure infrastructure,” said Richard Coleman, CEO of American Resort Management.
“This will put Bellevue on the map as a premier destination for family entertainment.
“With its retractable roof, the water park will offer year-round fun, whatever the weather, ensuring a consistent flow of visitors and revenue for the local economy.”
Construction of the water park will begin this summer and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Development is expected to take up to 24 months.
The park is scheduled to open in the summer of 2026.
