WANTING to use the bathroom on holiday in privacy could soon be a thing of the past.

An increasing number of hotel rooms are ditching the bathroom door altogether – and that’s because rooms are getting smaller.

One bathroom feature that is already common in hotel rooms is glass doors, which are equally hated.

But it appears some hotels are going even further – and eliminating doors altogether.

Experts say this is common in cities like London and Tokyo, when hotel space is tight, meaning rooms are often smaller.

By abandoning the doors, the room appears larger and more modern.

Kenneth Cronin, who worked as a project coordinator for hotels, said Thriller: “The key is careful design and careful consideration of sightlines, which are views that extend beyond the immediate boundaries of a space.

“For example, in cash of a hallway when a bedroom door opens or the placement of a mirror that can reflect a private area.”

This was supported by interiors supplier Drench last year.

They told the Sydney Morning Herald: “The lack of dividing walls means natural lighting can fill the room and panoramic views can be fully appreciated.

“If designed well, proximity can make bedroom and bathroom areas feel much more spacious than they really are.”

Although this may not be a problem for solo Travelersnot popular when traveling with friends.

One woman said this caused problems when sharing a hotel room with some of her colleagues.

She said: “We would try to take turns and wait until one of us left the room.”

She said she was even forced to use the lobby bathroom on more than one occasion.

Other people shared horror stories about their problems with shared bathrooms in hotels.

One woman said she had a “frosted glass door” for the bathroom when she shared it with a friend – only for one of them to get food poisoning.

Another said that it was always necessary to play music to drown out the sounds of those using the bathroom.

If you want to avoid it yourself, it is advisable to check the images of the hotel rooms before booking to see what the bathroom layout is like.

It’s not the only thing people hate about hotel rooms.

Loud and noisy refrigerators are a pet peeve for some, with a TikTok user revealing how to avoid it.

How to Make Your Bed Look Like a Hotel

IF you want to recreate the perfect hotel stay or impress guests during your visit – these hacks are a game changer.

Self-proclaimed Home Hacks Queen Carolina McCauley shared her top three tips for making your bed.

The first trick is to use a bed-making tool, an iron-shaped plastic device that acts like a “mattress jack” and keeps you supported.

This helps to tuck the sheet underneath to ensure it doesn’t come loose and leave the mattress exposed underneath.

“To help lift heavy mattresses and secure sheets without breaking your nails,” Carolina added.

Another way to make your bed look five-star is to get rid of wrinkled duvet covers.

An easy trick to avoid ironing requires just some warm water and a spray bottle.

“Put warm water in a spray bottle and spray it on the bed while smoothing it with your hands to remove wrinkles without ironing,” explained the housewife.

The third tip for recreating a luxurious hotel bed is to “keep the sheet label in the right corner so the sheet always fits.”

And smart technology has been criticized by hotel guests, with many saying they were left confused when trying to control lighting and heating.

And here’s the biggest hotel hater, according to the British.
