MARKS & Spencer is offering a cheeseburger pasta salad with more calories and fat than a Big Mac.
The new £3.90 meal features beef meatballs, Red Leicester cheese and mayonnaise with burger sauce.
It contains 755 calories, compared to 493 for the McDonald’s favorite and 694 calories for the Double Big Mac.
The pasta salad, part of M&S’s Viva Summer range, also contains 33g of fat.
A Big Mac contains 24g, while the double version contains 38g.
A social media page dedicated to the food highlights the cheeseburger salad.
One reviewer suggests opting for a hot burger with a bun, writing, “But 755 calories. You could have the real thing.
Another said: “What are they trying to do to this country?” A third added: “Wow. That’s crazy, isn’t it! Another foodie said: “It looks good.”
M&S has also gained its new £6 Posh Egg Mayo and Watercress double sandwich.
One customer fumed: “£6 for an egg sandwich! The world has gone mad,” while another said: “£6, what the fuck. This is ridiculous.”
A third said: “You could buy a loaf of bread, butter and fillings for that amount and make lots of sandwiches.”
One user said: “Add the word ‘fancy’ and you can charge whatever you want haha.”
M&S defended its new offering, saying: “Our food to go range includes healthy lunch options such as salads, pasta salads and sandwiches, which are highlighted by our Eat Well flower packaging.”
